This Privacy Policy explains how the Orthodox Calendar app ("the app", "we", "us") handles your information on both iOS and Android. The short version: we do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any of your personal data.
1. Information We Collect
None. Orthodox Calendar has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking, and it bundles no third-party data SDKs. We do not operate any server that receives your data.
2. Contacts
If you choose to enable the name-day feature, the app asks permission to read your device Contacts so it can match your friends and family to the saint of the day. This matching happens entirely on your device. Your contacts are never uploaded, stored on a server, shared, or sold. Any name-day assignments you make by hand are saved only in the app's local storage on your device. You can revoke Contacts access at any time in your device settings — on iOS: Settings › Privacy & Security › Contacts; on Android: Settings › Apps › Orthodox Calendar › Permissions.
3. Notifications
If you turn on daily reminders, the app schedules them locally on your device. Reminder content (the day's saint and any matching name days) is computed on your device; nothing is sent to us or any third party. You can turn reminders off at any time in the app or in your device's notification settings.
4. Purchases (Tip Jar)
If you choose to leave an optional tip, the transaction is processed entirely by the platform's app store — Apple's App Store on iOS, or Google Play on Android. We never see or receive your payment information. Store purchases are governed by the respective store's own privacy policy.
5. Sharing Greetings
When you send a "Χρόνια Πολλά" greeting, the app simply opens your chosen messaging app (such as WhatsApp, or the iOS / Android share dialog) with a pre-filled message. We are not involved in sending or storing that message.
6. Children's Privacy
The app does not collect any data from anyone, including children. It is suitable for all ages.
7. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
